Elmore, 70 of Scottsboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 after a lengthy battle with cancer.<!--more--> Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Connell and Rev. Bill Ayers officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Bettye was a Scottsboro High graduate, and after graduation, she joined the United States Army from 1970 until 1971. After her military service, she worked as a stenographer at Walter Reid Hospital. She also enjoyed canning, gardening, reading, sewing, quilting, computer solitaire, puzzles, gospel music on television and was a General Hospital fan for over 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Elmore; children, Tina (Barry) McNabb, Tammy (Brian) Staples, John (Kelly) Elmore; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Bill Mitchell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mrs. Bettye S.
