I’ve known of some Christians who have abandoned their faith because some minister, elder, Bible teacher, or other church members let them down—didn’t live up to the highest expectations. Their faith rested more on the individual than on the rock of our salvation.

We can be so thankful that Jesus’ word is his bond. When He speaks a thing it will always be true. In John 14:1-11 we have His promise of his dependability. He’s calling on each one of us to trust His promises and lean on His everlasting arm. He affirms His total dependability. “If it were not so, I would have told you.” Have you ever forgotten an appointment – left someone standing – forgot to go back and pick someone up?

Jesus will never forget his promises: Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) 8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

God’s promises are certain: Hebrews 6:17-19 (KJV) 17Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

There are things certain upon which we can depend.

Revelation 21:5 (KJV) 5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Revelation 22:6 (KJV) 6And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

2 Timothy 1:12 (KJV) 12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

I know there are some who feel betrayed – let down – can’t seem to find anyone to trust in.
