He married the love of his life, Glenda Hess in 1954 and was a 1955 graduate of Jackson County High. He later served in the United States Army from 1955-1958 and worked at First National Bank of Scottsboro for 40 years. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church. <br \/>\nArthur was president of the Jaycee\u2019s and a member of the Scottsboro Lions Club. He was extremely passionate about golfing, hunting and fishing with family and friends and was admired by the many young men he coached in little league baseball, football and basketball. He was a devoted and avid Alabama football fan. <br \/>\nHe is survived by his brother, Wayne; wife of 67 years, Glenda; daughter, Tami (Woodson) Smith; son, Arthur (Marilyn) Beard; grandchildren, Alexandria (Daniel) Vandagriff, Arthur (Heilie) Smith, Arthur Beard, Jr., Turner Bears; beloved great-grandchildren, Branham, Brier Wade, Ellison, Everson; several nieces and nephews.
