{"id":3069,"date":"2020-10-01T07:33:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T13:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theclarion.org\/?p=3069"},"modified":"2020-10-01T07:33:00","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T13:33:00","slug":"marilyn-thomas-09-30-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.theclarion.org\/?p=3069","title":{"rendered":"Marilyn Thomas: &#8211; 09\/30\/20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marilyn \u201cJean\u201d Thomas, 78 of Scottsboro passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020. <!--more-->A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at First Baptist Church. <br \/>\nJean was born on Tuesday, March 10, 1942 in Griffith, Ind. When she was 13 years old, Jean moved to Florida and later attended the University of Florida, earning a degree in education. After meeting Bob, her husband of 54 years, Jean taught elementary school in Kentucky and Tennessee before moving to Scottsboro to raise a family, at which time, she took a break from teaching. She was an excellent mother and taught life\u2019s lessons with the wisdom of a true teacher. Jean later taught second grade at Brownwood Elementary, where she poured herself into her students and filled them with confidence, love and the desire to learn. She treated her students as her own children and loved them dearly. Jean taught for over twenty years, then retired to spend more time with Bob, and they enjoyed traveling together. <br \/>\nJean was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ. She began and ended every day with prayer and devotion. In retirement she stayed active helping those in need. Jean was a soft-hearted person who sought to reveal God\u2019s love to everyone she encountered.<br \/>\nJean is survived by her husband, Bob Thomas; daughters, Melissa Thomas, Jennifer Thomas (Alan) Neuhoff , Julie Thomas (Chris) Vincent; grandchildren, Tilley, Elizabeth, James, Keil, Acie Millie; several nieces and nephews.
