Margaret \u201cPeggy\u201d Blankenship, age 93, passed away on April 16, 2024. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
\nPeggy was born on July 31, 1930 in Huntington, West Virginia. After her marriage to Ray Blankenship, he and Peggy made their home in Henagar, Alabama. Throughout Ray\u2019s career with the telephone company they moved frequently. By doing this, they were able to minister to others by helping start Christian schools, churches and spreading God\u2019s word through living faithful lived devoted to Christ and each other. They were blessed with 75 years of marriage.
\nAfter taking early retirement, the couple motor homed the United States and flew to Hawaii. They continued sharing the Gospel and continued enjoying God\u2019s handiwork, while making memories and life- long friends.
\nPeggy did not know the meaning of idle hands. When she became homebound, she continued her work for the Lord by using her savvy computer knowledge and her trusty iPhone. Up until two weeks prior to her death, she was enjoying crafting, gardening, jig saw puzzles and being a gracious hostess to all entering her home. She doted upon her little dog, Grayce, who was always by her side.
\nPeggy loved her family fiercely and prayed for them daily. If you had the opportunity to meet Peggy, you were her friend forever and you loved her as she loved you. The needs of others always came before her own.
\nMrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband, Ray Blankenship; sons, Ricky Alan (Nancy) Blankenship, Rodney Bruce (Pat) Blankenship, Randy Ray (Lisa) Blankenship; grandchildren, Keith (Hope) Blankenship, Jennifer Blankenship and her mother, Becky Hawkins, Pam (Jeff) Jarrett, Celeste (Michael) Garcia, Kristi (Nathan) Strait and Stephen (Bethany) Blankenship; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
\nMrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Blankenship; and parents, Jerry McKinney and Gertrude McKinney.
