City Council Members Nita Tolliver and Donna Fredrick demonstrated outstanding leadership and community engagement by organizing a highly successful PALS Alabama Clean-Up Day in Scottsboro on Saturday, April 27th, 2024.With a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and civic pride, Tolliver and Fredrick mobilized over 70 enthusiastic volunteers to address the pressing issue of litter in our community. Together, they embarked on a mission to restore the natural beauty of Scottsboro and promote a cleaner, healthier environment for all residents.<\/p>\n
The collective efforts of the volunteers yielded remarkable results, as they collected a staggering 3200 pounds of garbage throughout the day. Among the items removed were discarded tires, an abandoned mattress, and various other debris that had been detracting from the scenic beauty of Scottsboro.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the city department heads, families, and children who showed up to lend a hand,\u201d said Council Member Nita Tolliver. \u201cYour dedication and commitment to our community are truly inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tolliver also expressed special appreciation for the leadership kids at Caldwell who made a promotional video to help spread awareness about the community cleanup day. \u201cTheir initiative and creativity have played a significant role in raising awareness and mobilizing support for this important cause,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Council Member Donna Fredrick echoed Tolliver\u2019s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in addressing environmental challenges. \u201cBy working together, we can make a meaningful impact on the cleanliness and vitality of Scottsboro,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
In light of the success of the Clean-Up Day, City Hall encourages residents interested in cleaning up around their community to utilize bags available at City Hall for pickup. Additionally, recycling bags for home use are available at City Hall, and for recycling questions, residents can contact the Scottsboro Solid Waste department at 256-259-5548.<\/p>\n
