Extended Family is growing and expanding on the local, state, and national levels!\u00a0 We are adding groups in elementary, middle, and high schools and juvenile diversion programs across the state and have recently added a virtual EFK series which is reaching kids across the country.\u00a0 Extended Family carefully selects and vets every person who works with Our Kids.\u00a0 Additionally, each person involved with EFK, whether paid staff or volunteer, is trained extensively to be able to offer the best possible experience for each child who participates.\u00a0 EFK Programs require two adults per lesson, a Program Leader and a Volunteer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Extended Family for Kids (EFK) is an evidence-based, 9-lesson Curriculum for students grades K-12 with a loved one incarcerated. This Curriculum is also effective for at-risk students facing multiple life challenges. EFK teaches students how to make healthy life-style choices, so they can improve their quality of life emotionally, mentally, and physically. EFK Lessons build self-esteem, ease feelings of shame, ease isolation, and strengthen communication skills.<\/p>\n
EFK Program Leaders and Volunteers must enjoy working with school-aged children as part of this rewarding experience and be willing to offer new tools for coping with family incarceration, stress, anger, and more!\u00a0 Hours are flexible and provide the greatest benefit of all \u2013 seeing students grow and succeed!<\/p>\n
